Industry Hero-Aricka Oliver

Published on 17 December 2025 at 07:21

Aricka Oliver is a hairstylist from Inglewood, Ca. She is a Celebrity stylist/ braider. When she was a young girl, she would watch her mother do hair. At the young age of 11 years old, she learned how to braid. By the time she was 13, she had a full clientele and had even printed out her first set of business cards. Braiding carried her all through high school. She was the “go to” for braids. After high school, she attended Cal State Dominguez Hills for one year and in the dorms; she was known as the girl that did braids. One day during winter break, she realized with everyone gone, she needed to
get a job. While applying for jobs, she happened to see a commercial about Marinello School of Beauty and decided to visit the campus the following week. When she went to visit the campus, at the end of the tour, she ended up signing a contract to attend. This decision was unknown to her family. She had to stay true to what she wanted to do, and what she was passionate about, so she left Cal State Dominguez Hills after only one year to pursue her passion at Marinello's School of beauty. This decision would change her life and bless her in ways that would change her life forever. She received
her cosmetology license at the young age of my license at 18 years old.

Being newly licensed at 18, she was poached by the owner of a salon in Gardena, CA. The owner was downsizing her salon, so Arika ended up working in this salon for 3 years. She left this salon and moved to a salon in Carson, CA where she also worked for another 3 years.

In 2014 after marriage and the birth of their first child, she started working at a salon in Westchester, CA. Arika stayed at this salon for 8 years. In 2020 when Covid hit, like many salons, her home of 8 years closed for a bit so being the growing entrepreneur she was, Arika ended up getting her own salon suite at the Phenix Salon suites in Torrance, CA. This decision pushed her to pursue her entrepreneurialism to another level. She has now expanded and started retailing beauty products.

Arika Oliver has been licensed legally for 16 years and is excited to share that this is just the beginning of her journey. She has so much to offer and so many ideas that God is giving her and she cannot wait to share with you all and looks forward to showing the world.

This “Industry Hero” is very dear to my heart. The last salon she worked at before becoming a suite owner was where I met her. I can remember this young lady when she started. She was eager to learn and such a beautiful young woman with an awesome spirit about her. I witnessed her working hard, watching the seasoned stylist in the salon to better her craft. She maintained being an awesome God-fearing wife, mother, and friend. I watched her have children and bounce back into the hair game. When I became ill and hospitalized in 2018, she and another one of my “babies in hair” came
to the hospital and braided my hair. When I asked Arika to be my “Industry Hero”, she let me know that it was a pleasure for her to be honored by someone she admired and thanked me for the opportunity. While she feels that way about me, I need her to know that it's young stylist like her that I have been blessed to work with, share information, and share my skills with. Arika, please know that you motivate me to be and do even better on my journey. This young lady is a beast in the hair game now, and I am proud to even know her and have been touched by those blessed hands. With the support and love her husband and children give her, on top of God's blessing,..... she can only become even greater on this journey.
Congratulations on the promotion God has given you, and I know you are going to be a force in Texas
